Healthcare Resources and HRT for the Transgender Community in Colorado, Conneticut and Delaware

Hi Everyone,

This has become a very challenging time for almost all Americans and especially for the LGBTQ+ community.  While we work to meet these challenges and suppor earch other it is import to make sure we take care of our own health.  We are updating our #WellnessWednesday posts to document sites that are still compassionately offering Transhealth services.  We are doing this work by states in alphabetical order.

This week we are covering Colorado, Connecticut, and Delaware resources for Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Non-Conforming Care.  These three states do have some legal provisions in place to protect transgender healthcare.

Colorado has recently joined the lawsuit challenging the White House order criminalize and ending funding for gender-affirming care.  Attorney General Phil Weiser of Colorado has the following to say in a press release: “The White House executive order is not only illegal, but also cruel. I’ve met with health care providers and parents, and they fear that if the executive order is allowed to stand, it will result in irreversible physical and mental health harms for transgender youth. Parents, in consultation with trusted medical providers, know what is best for their child and should have the option to seek the care their child needs to live their best lives,” said Weiser. “Gender-affirming care is legally protected health care in Colorado, and with this lawsuit Colorado hospitals will again be free to provide critical care.”  After Colorado joined this lawsuit two hospitals, Children’s Hospital Colorado and Denver Health resumed programs to provide minors with gender-affirming care according to the Colorado Sun.

The Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs (DORA) published the following Gender-Affirming Care Coverage Guide that is updated for 2025.

The good news for Connecticut is that several more providers were found for gender-affirming care beyond those reported when the blog was first written.  Connecticut also has good legal protections in place for gender-affirming care at brick & mortar and via telehealth Connecticut’s shield laws protect individuals who provide or receive reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare from out-of-state investigations, prosecutions, and legal liability, according to the Connecticut General Assembly and the Williams InstituteThese laws also protect healthcare providers from discipline for providing gender-affirming care, even if it conflicts with their employer’s policies, according to the CT Mirror. The state has taken steps to ensure that the shield laws protect telehealth providers and patients as well, clarifying that these protections extend to virtual care, according to the Connecticut General Assembly and CT Mirror.

The good news for Delaware is that bill HB 336 protects providers of gender-affirming care from out-of-state civil actions and prevent insurance companies from taking adverse action against them.  Also Delaware was found to have a couple more resources for Gender-Affirming medicine since this blog was first written.

Many resources are, to their credit,  creating  comfortable places for routine and proactive health maintenance as well as interventional health care.  We will try to highlight what is offered in each case.

If you still can’t find the health care you need, drop us a note on FB (B.UR.SLF LLC), instagram/ twitter @burslfllc or email burslfllc@gmail.com and we will see what we can do to help.
